Choosing Your DJ Service

Professionalism is the key
Choosing a wedding DJ is a fun process, but how do you determine which DJ will suit you best? Here are some tips that may help you in what could be the most important decision you make!
Presentation
What is your DJ going to be wearing? Wedding DJ's should be wearing a tuxedoor a suit. If your DJ is wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt at an event that costs tens of thousands of dollars, it shows a certain lack of respect for you and your guests.
Blatent Advertisement
Make sure to ask your DJ Company if they plan on having any advertisement outside of business cards at your event. A giant banner behind or in front of the DJ table just might be extreemly tacky.
How your DJ sounds
Does your DJ use a professional speaking voice or a cheesy announcer voice?
Coordination
Obviously, your DJ should have great people skills! But, does he/she have expertise in coordination?
Music
Is your DJ limited in his expertise in any particular genre?
Will your DJ honor requests as well as your must/do not play list?
Equipment
Does my DJ bring back-up equipment?
Is his equipment presentable and professional grade?
Back-up DJ's and Back-up Equipment
You should be looking for both when looking for a great DJ service.
Alcohol
Your DJ should NEVER consume alcohol at your event! A drunk DJ can result in mispronunciations of names, inappropriate beahavior, uncomfortable silence between tracks and so many other bad situations!
Contract
Your DJ should be under contract. It's a safety precaution to ensure that you will have entertainment at your event.
Insurance
Your DJ should be insured. Some venues will not allow a DJ to even set up his/her equipment without proof of insurance.
